OVERVIEW

Maximizing productivity and reducing operating cost is what the TDR-26 / TDR-26G is all about. Designed with a ‘ideal sized’ 25’8” cutting swath, it balances the need for increased cutting capacity in a cost effective roller mower. The TDR-26 / TDR-26G is “easy on the turf” when turning at the headlands for more harvestable acres! Like all of our mowers, we designed the TDR-26 as if we were maintaining the mower ourselves, so simplifying and reducing service requirements was an important goal. Maintenance free blade spindles, with extended 100 hour PTO shaft greasing intervals and fewer grease fittings overall means more time cutting – less time maintaining. We kept it simple: no electro-hydraulic valves or sensors are required. For the ultimate in reliability, many components are fully interchangeable with Progressive’s field proven TDR-22 and TDR-30 models. Focusing on the needs of the natural grass producer, Progressive offers four blade options for the TDR-26. The producer can optimize their cut and maintenance costs depending upon the growing conditions by selecting between two fixed blades and two Pro-EZ Change replaceable tip blade options - all featuring Progressive’s renown cut quality

AVAILABLE IN PAINTED AND GALVANIZED DECK SHELL FINISH

Increased Productivity
Since being introduced in the summer of 2017, the TDR-26 / TDR-26G has been “Field Proven” in natural grass production applications. Incorporating a 5th blade in each wing deck, Progressive has been able to offer a productive 25’8″ wide cut swath, while keeping a narrow transport width. Each of the three decks has Progressive’s proven 6-way deck pivot and retains the narrow spacing between the front and back rollers. Combine this with wing rollers that are 9’2″ long makes the TDR-26 easy on the turf as the mower easily follows changing contours, producing a superior cut and increasing the yield per field. The tractor is required to have a single hydraulic float circuit.

Maintenance Free Blade Spindles
Developed and tested over several years, the TDR-26 is equipped with maintenance free blade spindles as standard equipment. The TDR-26 blade spindle contains both an upper and lower splash shield to help protect the sealed bearings from moisture damage. Maintenance free blade spindles not only protect the owner’s investment from a missed service, it also reduces overall maintenance time and cost.

100 hour Greasing Interval
All of the PTO shafts including the input slip joint on the TDR-26 have 100 hour greasing intervals. The wing and deck pivots points are also on a 100 hour schedule. The extended interval means more productive mowing time is available each day. For larger scale operations this also allows for easier maintenance scheduling. A daily pre-use walk-around of the mower and tractor should always be performed, but now this task can be accomplished in less time.

HEX Drive Rollers and Sealed Bearings
All Progressive roller mowers are equipped with hardened, HEX shaped shafts at the ends of each deck roller, as standard equipment. Field proven to increase component life and reduce routine maintenance, the HEX design provides positive bearing engagement and ensures that as the mower moves, the supporting bearings always turn. This eliminates any chance of a round roller-end shaft turning inside the bearing leading to pre-mature failure of both the bearing and shaft. No specialized collars or sleeves to worry about as you would with a less robust designs. The rollers are supported by Heavy-duty 2-bolt greaseable flange bearings mounted in ductile iron housings. Special grease is NOT required, and recommended greasing intervals are set at 50 hours. All rollers are equipped with a cable wiper as standard equipment.

Combining the maintenance free blade spindles with the 100 hour greasing interval PTO’s and fewer grease fittings, provides a measure of comfort for the owner – gone is the fear that a missed service point by a un-familiar maintenance person will render the mower out of service and put production behind schedule.

Height Adjustment
Incorporating an infinitely variable cut height from ½” to 4” that is both simple to change, and a height gage that is easy to read. Operators appreciate that in-field adjustments are easy to perform with the supplied tool carried right on the mower (inset). Only 5 turns on the adjusting screw are required to change the cut height a full inch.

To reduce the horsepower requirement and save fuel, the decks are designed with a slight built-in forward tip. This ensures that the blade in the ‘back half’ of the cutting swing, does not drag on the freshly cut grass. To make it easy, set all four corners to the same height, Progressive takes care of the rest.

Commonality of Components
While there are several unique features on the TDR-26, there is a lot that common with the TDR-22 and or the TDR-30. From an ownership perspective, it is comforting to know that the TDR-26 incorporates tried and true design and manufacturing techniques and the componentry all has a field proven history. A few examples are: common gear boxes, PTO shafts, blades, roller designs, and the suspension axle, extra wide floatation tires and the main frame all from the TDR-30, just to name a few.

Ideal Front to Back Deck Balance
This cradle pivot position enhances the balance between the front and back rollers on each deck as the mower moves in operation. The result is less loading on the front roller, making the TDR-26 ideal for soft ground conditions. The independent 6-way float on each deck gives the ability to follow changing ground contours.

Air Flow Vents
When mowing at a low-cut height or in wet conditions, proper airflow is especially important to achieve a high quality finish cut. To aid airflow, Progressive designed the TDR-26 with several horizontal vents in the deck shell, just behind the front roller. The vents allow for increase the airflow through the deck, enhancing clipping dispersion and mowing efficiency. Heavy duty blade hoops within the cutting chamber blocks the ‘line of sight’ from the vents to the rotating blades.

Bolt–on Deck Shells – In Either Painted or Galvanized Finishes
Producers in some locations are faced with deck issues caused by abrasive or acidic soils. In late 2007 Progressive responded to this concern and introduced a new deck design that had the skin bolted in place to the deck support structure rather than welded. This allowed producers to simply change out the deck skin years down the road if required. Also released was a heavy-duty galvanized deck shell solution for those producers in acidic soils or where corrosion of a painted deck from fertilizers is a problem. Progressive gave owners a choice based on their local conditions.

Like its brothers the TDR-22 and TDR-30, Progressive’s TDR-26 is a field proven productive roller mower, now with the benefit of galvanized decks. Progressive pioneered the bolt-on deck shell design to lower long term ownership cost, a feature that competitors can only try to copy. That’s the Progressive Advantage!
