OVERVIEW

The Pro-Flex 120 is the most widely used pull-behind contour finishing mower. It has become the 'go-to' contour and rough mower due to its reliability, a 10' wide cut, and its versatility. With 5 independent floating decks, the Pro-Flex 120 will easily follow contour changes that are found on golf courses and campuses, producing a uniform quality cut that is demanded by Superintendents and members alike. The Pro-Flex 120 has several standard features that are important on a pull-behind contour mower, but are only available from Progressive! Utilizing the tractor for other tasks is a key advantage so we made connecting a Pro-Flex 120 to the tractor easy, thanks to an adjustable clevis, a low tongue weight, and an auto-lock PTO shaft. Originally introduced in 1999, the Pro-Flex 120 is well known as a durable, reliable rotary finishing mower that is now easier to maintain than ever before. Contour mowing:
5 independently floating decks give the Pro-Flex 120 the flexibility required to track changing ground conditions commonly found on golf courses or corporate campuses that are not suited for traditional mowers. The Pro-Flex 120 decks float fore and aft, as well as left and right independently of the main frame as they follow changing terrain. The 4-way swivel hitch isolates the tractor from the mower allowing truer contour tracking. Unique to the Pro-Flex 120 and incorporated into each deck is a “walking beam” assembly that ensures full contact with the ground at all times by all four wheels. This allows each deck to more accurately track ground contour changes – the result is a superior cut.

 

Versatile – A Fairway and a Rough Mower In One:
The Pro-Flex 120 is equally at home as a fairway or rough mower. With the ability to cut as low as 1″ and height adjustment that is easy to set on each deck, Superintendents can allocate the Pro-Flex 120 to where it is needed – enhancing both its utilization and value.

As a rough mower, the Pro-Flex 120 is more tolerant to exposed tree roots and obstacles than other mowers, and can be used in areas where reel type mowers can’t be for fear of expensive damage.

 

 

Narrow transport width:
The outer wings of the Pro-Flex 120 are designed to fold to make both transportation easier and to facilitate the passing through narrow equipment shed doors. The overall transport width of the Pro-Flex 120 is 8.5 ft. with the wings folded, making movement around confined areas, bridges, trees and walkways easy; and most importantly minimal impact to play. Mechanical deck locks automatically engage when the outer decks are fully raised. The wing locks are released from the operator’s seat.

 

 

 

Easy change height adjustment:
The operator can easily change the cutting height on each deck of the Pro-Flex 120 in minutes. Most importantly there isn’t a requirement for the time consuming task of first levelling all the decks as a single unit, as required with competing mowers. Setting the Pro-Flex 120 height individually on each deck gives the Superintendent the flexibility to change mowing heights as conditions or mowing locations change. This also means to help speed play; Superintendents can specify multiple mowing heights on a single mower – a Pro-Flex 120. It has never been easier to create a ‘stepped transition’ or a ‘First Cut’ between the fairway and rough. Now that’s Progressive thinking!

 

 

 

 

Now Easier to Operate Than Ever Before!
The industry exclusive Pro Lift-N-Turn system is standard equipment on the Pro-Flex 120 and a feature not found on other contour mowers. Pro Lift-N-Turn allows the operator to temporarily raise the decks slightly off the ground without stopping and with the PTO still engaged. All without fear of doing any component damage or impacting belt life and the driveline is subjected to less wear and tear. Crossing a cart path or other minor obstacles has never been easier or faster making the Pro-Flex 120 easier to operate than ever before! Additionally before engaging the PTO, the operator can first lift the decks so the blades are above the uncut grass. This reduces the stress placed on the complete drivetrain of the tractor and mower. (Refer to the Operator’s Manual for precautions and operating instructions.)

 

Automatic Wing Cylinder Lock Valve
An automatic lock valve is incorporated into the wing lock release mechanism (circled in the photo). This simplifies the connection to the tractor as only two hydraulic hoses are required to run between the tractor and the mower. When the wings need to be raised or lowered, the Operator simply pulls and holds the pull rope from the tractor’s seat until they are fully raised or lowered. The Automatic Wing Cylinder Lock Valve is truly an Operator convenience feature, and best of all the functionality of Pro Lift-N-Turn feature remains unchanged. The Automatic Wing Cylinder Lock Valve makes operating the Pro-Flex 120 easier than ever before!

 

Automatic Drive Belt Tensioning
With the goal to lower ongoing maintenance costs, the Pro-Flex 120 is equipped with rubber-damped, automatic belt tensioners, offering several cost saving benefits. All of the upper drive and deck belts are tensioned using rubber-damped, automatic tensioners. Field proven for several years, this type of belt dampening provides more consistent belt tension as the belts ‘seat-in’, further increasing belt durability and life and allowing Progressive to achieve the mandate of lower operating costs. All spring type tensioners have been eliminated so there are now fewer moving parts for greater long term reliability.

 

 

Lowering the Cost of Routine Maintenance
The Pro-Flex 120 is also equipped with PTO shafts that feature a 100 hour lubrication interval. With the inclusion of the rubber-damped belt tensioners, maintenance free bushings now in many locations, Progressive has been able to eliminate most daily greasing requirements and over 25% of the grease points compared to previous models! This means routine servicing is faster and easier so there is more time for mowing. In fact, the upper belt covers do not need to be removed for greasing and difficult to reach grease fitting have been eliminated.

 

Maintenance Free Blade Spindles
Developed and tested over several years, Progressive is pleased to include maintenance free blade spindle assemblies on the Pro-Flex 120 as standard equipment. Completely interchangeable with an older style greased spindle used on earlier models, the same spindle housing is used providing wide spacing between the bearings, ensuring low bearing loading and long service life. Now equipped with upper and lower splash shields (seen HERE) prevents moisture to get into the spindle and shorten the bearings life.  Maintenance free blade spindles not only provide peace of mind concerning a missed service, they also reduce overall maintenance time and costs.

 

 

Not only does the reduction in the number of grease points and the lengthened PTO lubrication schedule reduce maintenance time and cost, it provides an additional measure of comfort – gone is the fear that a missed service point by un-familiar maintenance personnel will render the mower out of service and put grounds maintenance behind schedule.
